Taylor Swift is heading back to her country roots for a special collaboration with Disney and Pixar, announcing a brand-new original song titled “I Knew It, I Knew You” for the highly anticipated Toy Story 5. The track is set to arrive on June 5, two weeks ahead of the film’s theatrical release on June 19.
The announcement follows weeks of speculation among fans after mysterious “TS” billboards appeared in major cities around the world and a Toy Story-themed countdown briefly surfaced on Swift’s official website. On June 1, the global superstar finally confirmed the rumors through social media, revealing that she had written an original song specifically for the beloved Pixar franchise.
Swift shared that contributing to the film had been a lifelong dream. Having grown up with the Toy Story movies, the singer explained that she instantly connected with the story after viewing an early version of the film and was inspired to write the song immediately afterward.
According to Disney, the song was written and produced by Taylor Swift alongside longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff. The track is reportedly inspired by Jessie, the franchise’s iconic cowgirl character, and marks a return to the country influences that launched Swift’s career nearly two decades ago.
Toy Story 5 director Andrew Stanton praised Swift’s contribution, saying her understanding of Jessie’s emotional journey made the collaboration feel natural from the start. Stanton described the song as deeply connected to the film’s themes, adding that it felt as though it had always been part of the Toy Story universe.
In addition to the standard version, fans will be able to hear acoustic and piano renditions of the song. Limited-edition CD singles featuring exclusive vocals and production variations have also been made available for preorder through Swift’s official website.
The release marks Swift’s first new music since her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl and adds another major milestone to her already historic career. It also represents one of Disney and Pixar’s biggest musical partnerships in recent years, bringing one of the world’s most successful songwriters into one of animation’s most beloved franchises.
With anticipation building for both the song and the film, “I Knew It, I Knew You” is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about soundtrack releases of the year. For Swifties and Toy Story fans alike, the collaboration promises a nostalgic blend of heartfelt storytelling, country-inspired melodies, and Pixar magic.
