Nia Long has officially received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, celebrating more than three decades of work across film and television.
The actress was honored on September 16, 2026, with the 2,857th star in the Motion Pictures category at 6150 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. The ceremony featured filmmaker Graham King and rapper and actor Snoop Dogg as guest speakers.
Long attended the ceremony with her mother, Talita Long, and her two sons, Massai Dorsey II and Kez Udoka. During her speech, she reflected on her upbringing in Los Angeles and the sacrifices her mother made while raising her.
The moment was particularly personal for Long, who described the star as a recognition that extended beyond her own career. She credited her mother, her children and the generations of people who helped shape her journey in Hollywood.
Long has built a career spanning some of the most recognizable films and television shows in Black entertainment. Her early breakthrough came with Boyz n the Hood, followed by memorable roles in films including Friday, Love Jones, Soul Food and The Best Man.
Television audiences also know her from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, where she played Lisa Wilkes, as well as Third Watch, Empire, NCIS: Los Angeles, Dear White People and #blackAF.
Her Walk of Fame honor arrives during another notable chapter in her career. Long recently portrayed Katherine Jackson in Michael, the 2026 biographical film directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson as Michael Jackson. The role introduced her to a new generation of audiences while adding another major character to her filmography.
Snoop Dogg, one of the speakers at the ceremony, praised Long for maintaining her identity throughout her decades in Hollywood. He highlighted her ability to remain authentic despite the pressures that can come with working in the entertainment industry.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce also declared September 16 as Nia Long Day in recognition of the occasion.
For Long, the star represents more than another Hollywood achievement. It is a permanent recognition of a career that has connected her with audiences across generations and established her as a familiar presence in both Black cinema and mainstream entertainment.
With her name now permanently placed along Hollywood Boulevard, Nia Long joins the long list of entertainers whose work has been formally recognized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
