Netflix has released the first trailer for Michael Jackson: The Verdict, a new three-part documentary series that revisits the late pop icon’s highly publicized 2005 criminal trial more than two decades after the case captivated audiences around the world. The series is set to premiere globally on June 3.  

Directed by Nick Green and produced by Candle True Stories, the documentary promises an inside look at the courtroom proceedings through new interviews with jurors, eyewitnesses, legal figures, and journalists who were present throughout the trial. According to Netflix, the series aims to examine the case from both the prosecution and defense perspectives while exploring the lasting impact it had on Michael Jackson’s legacy.  

The newly released trailer features archival footage, courtroom coverage, and interviews with individuals directly involved in the case. It also includes a clip of Jackson himself saying, “Please keep an open mind and let me have my day in court.”  

The series focuses on the 2005 trial in which Jackson faced multiple charges related to child molestation allegations. After a four-month trial in California, a jury acquitted him on all counts in June 2005.  

Netflix says the project seeks to revisit one of the most closely watched legal battles in entertainment history, particularly because cameras were not allowed inside the courtroom, leaving much of the public’s understanding of the proceedings shaped by media reports at the time.  

The release comes just weeks after the commercial success of Michael, the Michael Jackson biopic starring Jaafar Jackson. The renewed interest in Jackson’s life and career has sparked fresh discussion around both his artistic legacy and the controversies that followed him throughout his life.  

With the trailer now available, Michael Jackson: The Verdict is already shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most talked-about music documentaries of the year.
