Jay-Z could be stepping out from behind the scenes and onto the Super Bowl stage, with reports suggesting the rap icon has selected himself to headline the halftime show at Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027.

According to a report by Puck, Jay-Z has emerged as the reported choice for the high-profile performance, which is scheduled to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Other artists reportedly considered for the slot included Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus.

Neither Jay-Z, Roc Nation nor the NFL has officially confirmed the booking, leaving fans waiting for an announcement. Reports suggest confirmation could come during Jay-Zโ€™s upcoming performances at SoFi Stadium.

From Choosing the Headliners to Taking the Stage

A potential Super Bowl performance would mark a significant moment for Jay-Z, whose company, Roc Nation, has helped oversee the eventโ€™s halftime entertainment since partnering with the NFL in 2019.

The partnership has placed Jay-Z at the centre of the selection process for one of the biggest stages in global entertainment. Under Roc Nationโ€™s involvement, the halftime show has featured major performances from Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, Dr. Dre and his collaborators, Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny.

If confirmed, Jay-Z would move from helping select the eventโ€™s biggest musical acts to becoming its headline performer for the first time.

A Major Moment for Hip-Hop

The reported booking comes as Jay-Z celebrates major milestones in his career, including the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint.

Although he has not released a studio album since 4:44 in 2017, the rapper remains a major live attraction. His recent anniversary performances have brought renewed attention to a catalogue that helped shape modern hip-hop.

A Super Bowl set would give Jay-Z an opportunity to bring decades of hits to one of the worldโ€™s largest television audiences. Songs from his catalogue, including โ€œEmpire State of Mind,โ€ โ€œ99 Problemsโ€ and โ€œPublic Service Announcement,โ€ could feature in a career-spanning performance, although no setlist has been announced.

Naturally, speculation has also turned to whether Beyoncรฉ could make a guest appearance. She headlined the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and joined Coldplay and Bruno Mars during the 2016 performance. However, there is no confirmation of any guest performers for 2027.

For now, Jay-Zโ€™s reported selection remains unconfirmed. If the reports prove accurate, Super Bowl LXI would mark a new chapter for the rapper, bringing one of hip-hopโ€™s most influential figures to a stage he has helped shape for years.
