Dion has officially returned to the stage, delivering an emotional comeback performance in Paris on Saturday, September 12, marking her first full concert in more than six years.

The Canadian superstar performed before a sold-out crowd at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, launching her long-awaited Paris residency. Dion became visibly emotional during the opening moments of the concert, wiping away tears as she began with her French-language classic “On ne change pas.” 

The return comes after a difficult period for the 58-year-old singer, who was diagnosed in 2022 with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms. The condition forced Dion to step away from regular live performances and ultimately cancel the remaining dates of her Courage World Tour. 

Addressing the Paris audience, Dion expressed her gratitude for the support she received throughout her absence and described her return as a promise fulfilled. Her emotional performance reflected not only a return to music but also the personal journey she has undertaken while managing her condition.

The concert featured several of Dion’s biggest hits, including “My Heart Will Go On,” “All by Myself,” “The Power of Love,” “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” and “Because You Loved Me.” Her performance reportedly lasted more than two hours and featured 25 songs. 

Dion’s comeback also attracted major attention beyond the music world. Michelle Obama was among the notable attendees at the opening-night performance, while fans traveled from different parts of the world to witness the singer’s return. 

The Paris residency was initially announced as a 10-show run, but strong demand led to an expansion. Dion is now scheduled to perform 26 shows, with the first 16 taking place during the current Paris run and another 10 scheduled for May 2027. 

Although Dion had made brief appearances since stepping away from full-time performing including her acclaimed performance of Édith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour” at the 2024 Paris Olympics—Saturday’s concert represented her first full-length live show since 2020. 

For fans who had spent years uncertain about whether they would ever see Dion perform a full concert again, her Paris return became a powerful moment of celebration. After years away from the stage, one of pop music’s most recognizable voices is once again performing in front of a live audience.

Céline Dion’s Paris residency continues through 2026, with additional performances scheduled for May 2027.
