Burna Boy is taking his love for video games to another level, joining the world of Grand Theft Auto VI as a radio host. The Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar will co-host AfroBank FM alongside British DJ and producer Palms Trax, bringing African music to one of gamingโ€™s most anticipated releases.

Rockstar Games unveiled the radio station lineup on October 8, confirming that AfroBank FM will celebrate African music across generations, from classic records and overlooked gems to contemporary sounds such as amapiano and 3-step.

The collaboration gives Burna a more prominent role in the Grand Theft Auto universe. His music has previously appeared in the franchise, including โ€œKillin Demโ€ on GTA Vโ€™s iFruit Radio and โ€œGettinโ€™ Moneyโ€ in the GTA Online Cayo Perico update. This time, however, he will help shape the listening experience himself.

What to Expect From AfroBank FM

AfroBank FM is designed to showcase the diversity of African music rather than focus exclusively on contemporary Afrobeats hits. Its announced selections include Asakeโ€™s โ€œJoha,โ€ โ€œGye Waniโ€ by Ghanaian music legends Pat Thomas and Ebo Taylor, and โ€œShayโ€™sanaโ€ by DJ Lag and Robot Boii featuring Kamo Mphela. The lineup spans Nigerian street-pop, Ghanaian highlife and South African dance music.

Palms Trax, known for his work in electronic music and his eclectic DJ selections, brings a complementary perspective to the station. The pairing creates an opportunity to introduce players to established African classics alongside newer sounds that have been gaining international attention.

Speaking about the collaboration, Burna Boy told Hypebeast that he had played Grand Theft Auto long before his own music entered the franchise, describing his new role as a full-circle moment. He also highlighted the opportunity to bring African culture and music into a game he had enjoyed for years.

GTA VI Expands Its Musical World

AfroBank FM is one of six radio stations Rockstar Games has previewed so far. The lineup also includes Cocoteo FM, featuring Bad Bunny and RaiNao; Flash FM, with Robyn and Alex Consani; Dirty South Classics, hosted by Trick Daddy and Trina; Back Country Radio, featuring Morgan Wallen and Lana Del Rey; and The Chamber, with Slayer members Kerry King and Tom Araya.

The game will also introduce on-demand fictional podcasts for the first time in the series. Players will be able to listen to radio and podcasts while driving or while exploring the game world on foot through headphones and earbuds connected to their in-game smartphones.

Scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI is set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. Its soundtrack and radio stations remain a major part of the gameโ€™s identity, connecting players to different musical scenes as they explore the world.

For Burna Boy, AfroBank FM represents another step in the global expansion of Afrobeats and African sounds. By bringing the music to a massive gaming audience, the station could introduce listeners to artists, genres and records they might not otherwise encounter.

With Burna Boy and Palms Trax at the controls, AfroBank FM is shaping up to be one of the standout musical features of GTA VI.
