Ayra Starr has opened the era of her third studio album Starrgirl with a major streaming milestone, recording 3,941,409 global Spotify streams in its first full day of release.

The figure places Starrgirl among the biggest first-day streaming performances for a female African album in 2026, reportedly ranking as the second-highest debut of the year in the category.

Released on August 14, Starrgirl is Ayra Starr’s third studio album and follows her acclaimed 2024 project The Year I Turned 21. The new album represents another major step in the Nigerian singer’s increasingly global career.

The project features an impressive lineup of African and international collaborators, including Wizkid, Rema, ZAYN, Leon Thomas, Danny Ocean, Theodora and KWN, further highlighting the global direction of Ayra Starr’s latest era.

The album’s strong opening comes after an extensive buildup surrounding its release. Ayra Starr had already generated significant attention with singles including “Tornado” and “Where Do We Go”, with the former serving as one of the key songs leading into the album campaign.

The performance also continues Ayra Starr’s remarkable relationship with Spotify. She has previously established herself as one of the most-streamed female African artists on the platform, including becoming the first African female artist to surpass 5 million Spotify followers.

For an album built around international collaborations and a broader pop and R&B-influenced sound, the first-day numbers suggest that Starrgirl is connecting strongly with listeners both within Africa and across the global market.

The milestone adds another achievement to what is already shaping up to be one of the biggest eras of Ayra Starr’s career.

With nearly 4 million Spotify streams in its first full day, Starrgirl has made an impressive opening statement and the numbers could rise significantly as the album’s first full tracking week is completed.
