Ayra Starr has opened the era of her third studio album, Starrgirl, with another major global streaming achievement.

The Nigerian Afropop star’s 16-track album has debuted at No. 2 on Spotify’s Global Top Albums Debut chart, giving Starrgirl one of the biggest global album openings by an African female artist in 2026.

Released on August 14, Starrgirl recorded 3,941,409 global Spotify streams in its first full day, demonstrating the strong international demand surrounding Ayra Starr’s latest project.

The album features an impressive lineup of African and international collaborators, including Wizkid, Rema, ZAYN, Danny Ocean, Leon Thomas, Theodora and KWN. The project sees Ayra Starr expand her sound across Afropop, R&B, contemporary pop and dance influences while maintaining her African musical identity.

The strong global debut follows a major buildup to the album’s release. Ayra Starr has steadily expanded her international audience in recent years, becoming one of the most recognizable young African artists on the global streaming landscape.

Starrgirl also continues the momentum from her previous album, The Year I Turned 21, which established Ayra Starr as one of Nigeria’s leading female exports and earned significant international chart and streaming success.

The No. 2 global debut is particularly significant because it places Starrgirl among the year’s strongest openings for an African female album, showing the growing international demand for music from African women.

With nearly 4 million Spotify streams in its first full day and a No. 2 position on Spotify’s Global Top Albums Debut chart, Ayra Starr’s Starrgirl era is already off to a powerful start.

And with a deluxe edition reportedly already ready, there could be even more numbers ahead for the Starrgirl era.
