Morn than four decades after its release, Michael Jackson\u2019s legendary Halloween classic, \u201cThriller,\u201d has reached a new milestone, topping Spotify\u2019s Global Daily Chart for the first time in its history.<\/p>\n
The 1982 hit claimed the No. 1 position on October 31, 2026, after recording approximately 6.6 million streams worldwide in a single day. The achievement came as listeners across the globe turned to Halloween-themed music, giving the track a major streaming boost.<\/p>\n
The jump was particularly impressive compared with the previous day. On October 30, \u201cThriller\u201d recorded about 3.09 million streams and ranked No. 8 globally. Its streams more than doubled the following day, pushing it to the summit of the chart.<\/p>\n
The song\u2019s success was part of a wider Halloween takeover, with Ray Parker Jr.\u2019s \u201cGhostbusters\u201d landing at No. 2 and Bobby \u201cBoris\u201d Pickett\u2019s \u201cMonster Mash\u201d taking No. 3.<\/p>\n
Originally released as the title track of Jackson\u2019s sixth studio album in 1982, \u201cThriller\u201d has remained one of the most recognisable records in pop music. Its iconic music video, distinctive production and enduring association with Halloween have helped it find new audiences across generations.<\/p>\n
The achievement also adds to Jackson\u2019s streaming milestones in 2026. His classic \u201cBillie Jean\u201d previously reached the top of Spotify\u2019s Global Chart in June.<\/p>\n
