The R&B singer is seeking financial damages and wants the court to declare her September 2017 agreement with LVRN void and unenforceable.

According to the complaint, Walker alleges that LVRN misappropriated funds from budgets intended for her recording, touring, marketing and merchandise activities while charging excessive company expenses to those accounts.

She also claims the company generated revenue through online merchandise sales and a YouTube page using her name and likeness without properly informing or compensating her. The allegations have not been proven in court, and LVRN had not publicly responded to requests for comment when the lawsuit was reported.

Summer Walker Accuses LVRN of Withholding Revenue

One of the central issues in Walker’s lawsuit concerns revenue she says she was entitled to receive from commercial activities connected to her identity.

The singer alleges that LVRN sold merchandise featuring her name and likeness on Amazon and other retail platforms without paying her a share of the proceeds. She further claims that the company operated a YouTube page in her name without her knowledge and later deleted the page’s historical data before transferring control to her.

Walker says she was not given the revenue generated by the channel and alleges that the company repeatedly refused to provide a full accounting of expenses and income connected to their agreement.

The complaint also challenges the extent of control Walker says LVRN obtained under their original agreement. According to the lawsuit, the deal covered extensive aspects of her career, including touring, merchandise and rights involving her name, image and likeness.

Her legal team argues that the company’s alleged conduct breached its contractual obligations and its duty to act in her best interests.

Singer Wants Her 2017 Contract Declared Void

Walker signed with LVRN in September 2017, when she was 19, before entering a separate recording agreement with Interscope Records later that year.

Her lawsuit argues that the LVRN agreement gave the company extensive control over her professional affairs. She also alleges that she did not receive independent legal advice before signing the contract.

Her attorney, Keith Moten, told Rolling Stone that Walker’s primary objective is to end her contractual relationship with LVRN, while also pursuing damages for the alleged financial misconduct. The amount she is seeking has not been specified.

Walker rose to prominence with her 2019 debut album, Over It, followed by Still Over It in 2021 and Finally Over It in 2025. The three albums helped establish her as a major figure in contemporary R&B.

The Lawsuit Comes Amid a Separate $50 Million Dispute With Interscope

The legal action against LVRN comes as Walker faces a separate lawsuit from Interscope Records and its parent company, Universal Music Group.

Filed in Los Angeles on October 9, that case seeks more than $50 million in damages over recordings the label says Walker still owes under her contract. Interscope maintains that her agreement required five studio albums and argues that she has delivered only three qualifying albums.

Walker has invoked California’s so-called seven-year rule in an effort to leave the agreement. The law limits the enforceability of certain personal-services contracts beyond seven years, but a provision introduced in 1987 allows record labels to pursue damages when artists leave before completing their contractual recording commitments.

Walker’s legal team has disputed Interscope’s position and indicated that she intends to fight the claim. Interscope, meanwhile, has said it remains hopeful that discussions can lead to an amicable resolution.

The two cases involve separate agreements and allegations, but together they place Walker’s contractual relationship with the companies behind her career under intense scrutiny.

What Happens Next?

Walker is asking the court to void her LVRN agreement and award compensatory and punitive damages. The court has not ruled on her allegations, and the claims against LVRN remain allegations rather than established findings of wrongdoing.

The outcome could have significant consequences for Walker’s future recording and management arrangements, particularly if the court agrees that her agreement with LVRN is unenforceable.

For now, the dispute highlights the complicated financial and contractual relationships that can exist between artists, record labels and management companies. As both legal battles continue, Walker’s central objective is clear: to challenge the agreements she says have restricted her career and secure greater control over her music and business affairs.

Summer Walker has filed a lawsuit against Love Renaissance (LVRN), the record label and management company that helped launch her career, accusing the company of fraud, breach of contract and mishandling money generated through her music and brand.
