Popstar moved 35,500 equivalent album units in the United States during its opening week, according to Luminate data reported by Billboard.<\/p>\n<p>The debut was driven heavily by album sales. Popstar sold 22,000 copies, making it Tinashe\u2019s best sales week to date and placing the album at No. 4 on the Top Album Sales chart. Another 13,500 units came from streaming, representing 13.73 million official on-demand streams.<\/p>\n<p>The result is a significant improvement on Tinashe\u2019s previous Billboard 200 peak. Her 2014 debut album, Aquarius, entered and peaked at No. 17, which had remained her best performance on the main albums chart for more than a decade. Popstar is only her second album to reach the Billboard 200\u2019s Top 40.<\/p>\n<p>Released on September 25, Popstar is Tinashe\u2019s eighth studio album and features 16 tracks, including \u201cToo Easy,\u201d \u201cMelatonin,\u201d \u201cCrash Out,\u201d \u201cPillow Fight,\u201d \u201cNobody Wanna Dance Anymore\u201d and \u201cCloud 9.\u201d The project was released through Nice Life Recording Company and Atlantic Records, alongside Tinashe\u2019s own Tinashe Music imprint.<\/p>\n<p>The album\u2019s strong debut also follows the renewed momentum created by \u201cNo Broke Boys,\u201d Tinashe\u2019s collaboration with Disco Lines. The song reached No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard\u2019s Hot Dance\/Electronic Songs chart.<\/p>\n<p>For Tinashe, Popstar represents the biggest commercial opening of her career and a major chart breakthrough more than a decade after Aquarius.
