Ed Sheeran\u2019s Loop Tour has been hit by two last-minute concert cancellations after severe weather forced the cancellation of his scheduled performances at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.<\/p>\n
Sheeran was due to perform at the 64,628-capacity stadium on September 25 and 26, but both shows were called off because of severe weather warnings across Boston and New England. Tour promoter Messina Touring said the decision was made after consultation with local officials, with the safety of fans, staff and everyone involved cited as the priority.<\/p>\n
The cancellations came only hours before Friday\u2019s scheduled performance, adding another unexpected development to the North American leg of Sheeran\u2019s tour.<\/p>\n
Ticket holders were informed that refunds would be available through their original point of purchase, with Ticketmaster purchases eligible for automatic refunds.<\/p>\n
The two canceled dates also come amid an already eventful period for the Loop Tour. Earlier in September, rapper Macklemore was removed from the remaining U.S. dates after making pro-Palestinian comments during his opening performances at New Jersey\u2019s MetLife Stadium.<\/p>\n
Tour promoter Messina Touring said venues had informed organizers that they would not allow concerts to proceed with Macklemore remaining on the lineup. Sheeran later said the decision was made by the promoter and venues rather than by him.<\/p>\n
Following Macklemore\u2019s departure, several other artists connected to the tour, including Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Beoga, announced that they would no longer participate in upcoming dates.<\/p>\n
Despite the cancellations and changes surrounding the U.S. leg, Sheeran\u2019s Loop Tour is currently scheduled to continue with his next listed performance in Atlanta on October 3.<\/p>\n
For now, the Gillette Stadium dates remain canceled rather than postponed, meaning fans will receive refunds rather than attend rescheduled performances for those two dates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
