The gospel icon previewed the track during his recent appearance on Joe and Jada, where he premiered the new song featuring the Memphis rapper. The collaboration is expected to arrive on September 25, 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis Time\u201d marks another collaboration between Franklin and GloRilla after they previously appeared together on \u201cRain Down on Me,\u201d alongside Maverick City Music, Kierra Sheard and Chandler Moore. That 2025 collaboration earned GloRilla her first BET Award in the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel\/Inspirational category.<\/p>\n
The new record is also expected to incorporate a familiar piece of hip-hop history, with \u201cThis Time\u201d sampling Shawty Lo\u2019s \u201cDey Know.\u201d Franklin\u2019s preview has already sparked conversations about the blend of gospel and hip-hop, a combination that has been central to his musical identity throughout his career.<\/p>\n
The collaboration arrives ahead of Franklin\u2019s upcoming album I AM WHAT I AM, which is scheduled for October 30. The project will be his first double album, featuring seven live recordings on one side and seven studio tracks on the other, with collaborations including GloRilla and gospel veteran Karen Clark Sheard.<\/p>\n
Franklin has previously spoken about his connection with GloRilla, explaining that the two developed a friendship after meeting at the Grammy Awards and had discussed working together before the opportunity eventually came together.<\/p>\n
With \u201cThis Time,\u201d Franklin continues his long-running approach of bringing gospel into contemporary musical spaces while working with artists from outside the traditional gospel genre.<\/p>\n
