British singer-songwriter RAYE is set to make her MTV Video Music Awards performance debut this weekend, where she will join Teddy Swims and SOMBR for a special tribute to the late George Michael.<\/p>\n
The trio will come together at the 2026 MTV VMAs on September 27 to honour the legendary singer, with Adam Blackstone serving as musical director for the tribute. The exact songs they will perform have not yet been revealed.<\/p>\n
For RAYE, the appearance will be a significant VMAs moment as she is scheduled to perform both as a solo artist and as part of the George Michael tribute. She is also nominated for two awards at this year\u2019s ceremony, including Song of the Year for her breakout single \u201cWHERE IS MY HUSBAND!\u201d<\/p>\n
Teddy Swims will also return to the VMAs stage for the first time since 2024, when he received four nominations. The singer recently released his new single \u201cPerfect Man\u201d and is preparing for the release of his upcoming album UGLY, scheduled for January 22, 2027.<\/p>\n
SOMBR, meanwhile, returns to the VMAs after his appearance last year. He enters this year\u2019s ceremony with three nominations, including Song of the Summer and Best Alternative.<\/p>\n
The George Michael tribute comes as the music world approaches the 10th anniversary of his death and 40 years since the release of his landmark album Faith. Michael was a four-time MTV VMA winner and received the Video Vanguard Award in 1989.<\/p>\n
The tribute also arrives ahead of the release of George Michael: The Faith Tour, with the live album scheduled for worldwide release on November 6 and the accompanying feature-length film set for U.S. cinemas on December 11.<\/p>\n
Hosted by Snoop Dogg, the 2026 MTV VMAs will take place live from Los Angeles on Sunday, September 27, airing on CBS and simulcasting on MTV, with streaming available through Paramount+.<\/p>\n
