Beyoncé, who was born and raised in Houston, has previously spoken about Selena’s influence on her music and her connection to the late Tejano icon.

The new version reimagines Beyoncé’s 2006 hit “Irreplaceable” in Spanish while incorporating Selena’s vocals from her iconic song “Como La Flor.” The result brings together two influential Texas-born artists from different generations.

The collaboration is particularly significant because Selena’s music and legacy have remained closely protected since her death in 1995.

Maluma Joins Beyoncé for “Cuerpo Tumbao”

The other major surprise is “Cuerpo Tumbao (Get Me Bodied),” a new Spanish-language reworking of Beyoncé’s B’Day hit “Get Me Bodied” featuring Colombian superstar Maluma.

The track marks Beyoncé and Maluma’s first collaboration and introduces a distinctly Latin flavor to one of the most recognizable songs from B’Day.

But the song goes even deeper into Latin music history.

“Cuerpo Tumbao” incorporates a sample from Celia Cruz’s “La Negra Tiene Tumbao,” connecting Beyoncé’s music to one of the most celebrated figures in Afro-Cuban and Latin music.

Rather than simply adding contemporary features to an old album, Beyoncé has used the anniversary project to revisit B’Day through Spanish-language music and pay homage to artists who helped shape Latin music and culture.

A Much Bigger B’Day

The anniversary edition isn’t limited to the new collaborations.

The digital version contains 31 tracks, including the original B’Day material alongside previously unreleased songs, rare recordings, alternate versions and songs from earlier editions of the project.

Among the previously unreleased material are “My First Time,” “Can I Watch You” featuring Pharrell Williams, “Lost Yo Mind,” “Creole” and “Back Up.”

The collection also includes the recently released “Morning Dew (Donk),” which Beyoncé unveiled earlier in 2026 as part of the countdown to her birthday and the B’Day anniversary.

Other familiar songs remain part of the expanded collection, including “Déjà Vu,” “Get Me Bodied,” “Ring the Alarm,” “Irreplaceable,” “Beautiful Liar” with Shakira, “Check on It” and “Listen.”

Two Decades After B’Day

Originally released in 2006, B’Day represented an important period in Beyoncé’s development as a solo artist. The album produced some of her biggest early hits, including “Déjà Vu,” “Irreplaceable,” “Ring the Alarm” and “Get Me Bodied.”

The project went on to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned Beyoncé the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album in 2007.

Twenty years later, Beyoncé has returned to the album not simply with a remaster, but with material that expands its musical world.

The Spanish-language additions are particularly striking. They connect Beyoncé’s Houston roots and long-standing relationship with Latin music to contemporary Latin pop through Maluma and the enduring legacies of Selena and Celia Cruz.

A Birthday Gift for the BeyHive

The timing makes the release even more fitting.

B’Day originally arrived around Beyoncé’s birthday in 2006, and the new anniversary edition lands on September 4, exactly two decades after the album’s original release date. Apple Music lists the expanded edition as a 31-song collection released through Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records.

For longtime fans, the project offers both nostalgia and something genuinely new: previously unheard Beyoncé recordings, reimagined classics and collaborations that would have seemed impossible when B’Day first arrived.

The inclusion of Selena and the connection to Celia Cruz also give the project a deeper cultural dimension, transforming what could have been a straightforward anniversary reissue into a celebration of musical influences across generations.

Twenty years after B’Day first introduced the world to one of Beyoncé’s most defining eras, the album has received another chapter, this time with Selena, Maluma and Celia Cruz’s musical legacy helping to tell the story.

Beyoncé has marked her 45th birthday and the 20th anniversary of her landmark second studio album B’Day with an expansive deluxe reissue featuring unexpected collaborations with Selena Quintanilla and Maluma, alongside a tribute to legendary Cuban singer Celia Cruz.
