{"id":3086,"date":"2026-05-10T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africahalloffame.org\/Home\/?p=3086"},"modified":"2026-05-10T03:00:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T03:00:00","slug":"tiwa-savage-music-foundation-awards-18-talents-berklee-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/africahalloffame.org\/Home\/tiwa-savage-music-foundation-awards-18-talents-berklee-scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"Tiwa Savage Music Foundation Awards 18 Talents Berklee Scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tiwa Savage is turning her success into opportunity for the next generation.<\/p>\n<p>The Tiwa Savage Music Foundation has awarded 18 young Nigerian music talents fully funded scholarships to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, following the conclusion of the inaugural Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Programme. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Over $2.1 Million in Scholarships<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to organizers, the scholarships are valued at more than $2.1 million, making it one of the biggest music education initiatives launched by an African artist in recent years. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The five-day programme:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ran from April 22\u201326 in Lagos<\/li>\n<li>received over 2,100 applications<\/li>\n<li>selected 120 emerging artists, producers, songwriters, and music professionals for intensive training sessions. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>A Landmark Moment for African Music Education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The programme marked Berklee\u2019s first major on-ground engagement in Nigeria and West Africa, with participants receiving:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>workshops<\/li>\n<li>mentorship<\/li>\n<li>live performance training<\/li>\n<li>songwriting and production classes<\/li>\n<li>music business education. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The finale concert at the National Theatre in Lagos drew more than 1,000 attendees and featured performances from participants alongside guest appearances from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Teni<\/li>\n<li>Loud Urban Choir. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tiwa Savage on Building Infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tiwa Savage described the initiative as bigger than charity:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what building infrastructure is, this is what creating access is.\u201d <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As a Berklee alumna herself, Savage said the goal of the foundation is to connect African talent with world-class music education opportunities. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For years, African music conversations have focused heavily on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>streaming numbers<\/li>\n<li>global hits<\/li>\n<li>chart success<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But initiatives like this shift attention toward:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>education<\/li>\n<li>infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>long-term talent development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Instead of only exporting stars, the industry is beginning to invest in building systems that create them.<\/p>\n<p>18 scholarships.
