2024<\/strong>, according to a new report by the <strong data-start=\"664\" data-end=\"672\">GSMA<\/strong>, the global body representing mobile operators.<br data-start=\"720\" data-end=\"723\" data-end=\"1891\">\n<p data-start=\"1764\" data-end=\"1891\">\u201cThe question for Africa is no longer whether digital transformation will happen \u2014 it\u2019s how inclusive it will be,\u201d healthcare, and education<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2360\" data-end=\"2547\">The GSMA estimates that <strong data-start=\"2384\" data-end=\"2442\">nearly half a billion Africans now use mobile internet<\/strong>, and the number continues to grow each year as smartphones become cheaper and mobile coverage expands.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2549\" data-end=\"2676\">\n<p Meanwhile, telecom operators across <strong data-start=\"3553\" data-end=\"3585\">Nigeria, Ghana, and Tanzania<\/strong> are rolling out 5G networks designed to support smart cities, industrial automation, and digital finance ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3706\" data-end=\"3939\">But analysts caution that this transition will require <strong data-start=\"3761\" data-end=\"3805\">significant investment in infrastructure<\/strong>, regulatory harmonization, and human capital development to ensure that Africa\u2019s digital expansion remains equitable and sustainable.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"3941\" data-end=\"3944\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"3946\" data-end=\"3991\"><strong data-start=\"3950\" data-end=\"3991\">Rwanda: A Model for Digital Inclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3993\" data-end=\"4440\">Rwanda has emerged as a regional role model for digital transformation, demonstrating how political will and public-private collaboration can close the connectivity gap.<br data-start=\"4162\" data-end=\"4165\" \/>According to Rwanda\u2019s Minister of ICT and Innovation, <strong data-start=\"4219\" data-end=\"4237\">Paula Ingabire<\/strong>, the country has increased its number of <strong data-start=\"4279\" data-end=\"4338\">4G users from just 500,000 in 2023 to 5 million by 2025<\/strong> \u2014 a tenfold surge achieved through national strategies and partnerships with private telecom firms.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"4442\" data-end=\"4589\">\n<p data-start=\"4444\" data-end=\"4589\">\u201cBy ensuring the promise of connectivity reaches every home, school, and hospital, we are transforming lives,\u201d Ingabire said during the summit.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"4591\" data-end=\"4868\">Under the <strong data-start=\"4601\" data-end=\"4632\">Digital Ambassadors Program<\/strong>, Rwanda has connected nearly <strong data-start=\"4662\" data-end=\"4689\">1,000 health facilities<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"4691\" data-end=\"4708\">4,000 schools<\/strong>, and trained <strong data-start=\"4722\" data-end=\"4746\">4.5 million citizens<\/strong> in basic digital literacy. The initiative aims to ensure that no one is excluded from the country\u2019s digital revolution.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"4870\" data-end=\"5023\">\n<p data-start=\"4872\" data-end=\"5023\">\u201cWe must connect people, ideas, and markets \u2014 and create solutions designed in Africa, built for Africa, and scaled to the world,\u201d Ingabire
