Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has taken a major step toward shaping the future of African music after partnering with the prestigious Berklee College of Music to train 100 emerging music creators through a fully funded educational initiative.<\/p>\n
The programme, launched under the newly created Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, aims to bridge the gap between raw talent and world-class music education across Africa. Tagged \u201cBerklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program,\u201d the four-day training will take place in Lagos from April 23 to 26, 2026, marking Berklee\u2019s first-ever educational programme in West Africa.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Designed to go beyond artist performance alone, the initiative will train participants in songwriting, music production, sound engineering, harmony, publishing, copyright, and the business side of the music industry. Savage explained that while Afrobeats has achieved global recognition, sustainable growth depends on building strong industry infrastructure behind artists.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The programme will be taught by Berklee faculty members travelling to Nigeria, offering hands-on learning sessions alongside mentorship opportunities. Outstanding participants may also receive guidance toward scholarships or further study opportunities at Berklee\u2019s global campuses and online platforms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For Savage herself a Berklee alumna the partnership carries personal significance.
