Def jam is officially expanding its global reach with a major new chapter in Asia. For, Universal Music Greater China<\/strong> has announced the launch of Def Jam China<\/strong>, headquartered in Chengdu, a city widely regarded as the cultural heart of Chinese Hip-Hop.<\/p>\n

The seismic move marks a significant milestone for the iconic Hip-Hop label, creating a dedicated platform designed to support Chinese Hip-Hop and Urban-flavored acts while connecting them to global audiences.<\/p>\n

According to the music juggernaut, Chengdu was chosen for its thriving music ecosystem, strong youth culture, and long-established street and live performance scenes.<\/div>\n
As part of the launch, acclaimed rappers Xie Di, Yitai Wang, <\/strong>and Deng Dianguo<\/strong>\u201cDDG\u201d have been named Special Guest Curators, tasked with helping identify, mentor, and spotlight emerging talent across China.<\/div>\n
The initiative also introduces a focus on \u2018Guofeng Hip-Hop\u2019,<\/strong> a creative direction developed in collaboration with digital platform Migu, blending modern Hip-Hop with Chinese language, storytelling, and cultural influences.<\/div>\n
