A civil lawsuit filed this week accuses the GRAMMY-winning gospel singer and pastor of sexually abusing a young man over a period of years, with allegations tied to spiritual counseling sessions centered on suppressing same-sex attraction.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit names Giuseppe Corletto as the plaintiff and claims the alleged abuse began in the early 2000s when he was 21 and seeking guidance to reconcile his sexuality with his Christian faith.<\/p>\n<div id=\"primis10TGJ\" data-refreshrate=\"0\">According to the complaint, Corletto says he sought out McClurkin after reading the singer\u2019s autobiographical book detailing his testimony of overcoming homosexuality through faith. He alleges that what began as spiritual mentorship at the New York-based church later escalated into grooming and abuse.<\/div>\n<div id=\"primis10TGJ\" data-refreshrate=\"0\">The lawsuit claims the alleged misconduct occurred during private \u201cpray the gay away\u201d sessions and intensified over several years while Corletto worked as McClurkin\u2019s assistant and traveled with him.<\/div>\n<div id=\"primis10TGJ\" data-refreshrate=\"0\">The filing also references an alleged 2013 incident at a hotel in Niagara Falls, after which McClurkin is said to have sent an apologetic email expressing shame over his actions.<br \/>\nMcClurkin, now 66, has firmly denied the accusations.
