Telecommunications giant Vodafone has announced a strategic partnership with Amazon to use satellite technology to connect mobile network masts across Europe and Africa, marking a major step toward expanding reliable internet coverage in underserved regions.

The collaboration will leverage Amazon’s Project Kuiper, a low-Earth orbit satellite initiative designed to deliver high-speed broadband connectivity globally. Through the partnership, Vodafone plans to link remote and rural mobile towers directly to satellites, reducing dependence on traditional fiber or ground-based infrastructure.

Industry experts say the move could significantly improve mobile coverage in hard-to-reach areas where building terrestrial networks is costly or geographically challenging.
