Jive Records is back for the next generation of music.Sony Musicโs RCA Records has officially announced the relaunch of the label, marking its return as a standalone music brand nearly 15 years after it was shut down.
Originally famous for launching the careers of artists like Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Outkast, and A Tribe Called Quest, Jive was retired in 2011.
Leading the charge for Jiveโs next chapter are Mike Weiss and David Melhado, who have been named Co-Presidents.
Both are heavyweight industry veterans who recently served as executives at UnitedMasters, where they were credited with developing independent stars like Brent Faiyaz and NLE Choppa.
RCA Chairman and CEO Peter Edgeexpressed high hopes for the revival: โWe admire the impressive results Mike and David have achieved in their careers. Bringing them in to lead Jive Records feels like a natural evolution and a poetic way to revive a label that has been at the forefront of hip-hop and pop. Their sharp instincts and proven ability to discover and develop artists make them the perfect team to launch Jiveโs next era.โ
With its history of producing some of the worldโs biggest artists, the future for the Jive brand looks incredibly bright once again.
