Kanye West is attempting to reset the narrative after years of controversy, issuing a lengthy public apology addressing antisemitism, mental illness, and the harm caused to both Jewish and Black communities.
The Rap star shared the statement via a paid ad in The Wall Street Journal revealing that he endured what he described as a four-month manic episode in early 2025 that spiraled into destructive behavior.
Delving into the reason for his words, Ye said:
โI fell into a four-month long manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior that destroyed my life,โ
The 48-year-old said his bipolar disorder, which he publicly disclosed in 2016, played a central role in the breakdown:
โWhen you go into a manic episode, you are ill at that pointโฆ when youโre not, thatโs when the wreckage hits the hardest,โ
West credited his wife, Bianca Censori, for pushing him to finally seek help after hitting what he called โrock bottom.โ
โI regret and am deeply mortified by my actionsโฆ I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. I love Jewish people.โ
he wrote, while stressing that mental illness does not excuse his behavior.
โIโm so sorry to have let you down.โ
The message arrives just days before the release of his next album, โBully,โ as the artist says he focuses on treatment, accountability, and long-term change.
