Streaming platform BET+ is set to be folded into Paramount+ after a major ownership shift involving filmmaker Tyler Perry.

The move follows the buyout of Perryโ€™s stake in the service by Paramount Global, which is restructuring its streaming strategy by consolidating platforms under the Paramount+ umbrella.

BET+ originally launched as a joint venture between Paramountโ€™s BET brand and Tyler Perryโ€™s studio operations, focusing on content created for Black audiences, including films, series, and exclusive productions.

With the integration into Paramount+, executives say the goal is to streamline operations and bring BET+ programming to a larger global audience while strengthening Paramount+โ€™s content library.

The change reflects a broader trend across the streaming industry, where media companies are merging or consolidating services to compete with larger platforms like Netflix and Amazon.

Despite the restructuring, BETโ€™s brand and its focus on Black storytelling are expected to remain central to the programming that will continue under the Paramount+ platform.
