Kanye West, now known as Ye, has received a state proclamation and a Global Icon Award from Texas State Representative Ron Reynolds following his record-breaking Halloween concert in Houston.
The recognition came after Ye performed at Houstonโs Reliant Stadium on October 31, drawing an official attendance of 74,412 fans, according to the concert promoters. The figure reportedly sets a new record for the highest-attended hip-hop concert at a U.S. stadium.
Representative Ron Reynolds presented the rapper with the proclamation in recognition of his contributions to music and culture. Ye also received a commemorative Texas flag that had been flown over the Texas State Capitol in Austin.
The nearly three-hour performance featured a career-spanning setlist, including classics such as โStronger,โ โGold Digger,โ โPowerโ and โRunaway,โ alongside material from his latest album, Bully.
The show also featured surprise appearances from Playboi Carti and Yeโs daughter, North West. Drake and Travis Scott were among the high-profile names spotted in attendance.
Despite the celebration surrounding the concert, the recognition has attracted criticism and public debate because of Yeโs history of antisemitic remarks and controversial public statements. Ahead of the event, the venue had warned that hateful symbols and messages would not be tolerated at the show.
The Houston performance marks another major moment in Yeโs ongoing stadium run, with further performances scheduled for Arlington, Texas, and Phoenix later in November.
