Wizkid has reached another major streaming milestone as his acclaimed album Made in Lagos: Deluxe Edition surpasses 1.3 billion streams on Spotify, further cementing its status as one of the most successful Afrobeats projects of all time.
According to streaming data published by Kworb, the deluxe edition crossed the milestone on October 19, 2026, before reaching approximately 1.300 billion streams the following day. The achievement makes it the sixth most-streamed Nigerian album or EP on Spotify, according to rankings reported by Album Talks.
Originally released in August 2021, the deluxe edition expanded on Wizkid’s fourth studio album, Made in Lagos, which arrived in October 2020. The project played a significant role in expanding the singer’s international audience, blending Afrobeats with R&B, soul and contemporary pop influences.
The album features standout records including “Essence” featuring Tems, “Ginger” featuring Burna Boy, “Mood” featuring BNXN and “Blessed” featuring Damian Marley. Its expanded edition also includes the globally successful “Essence” remix featuring Tems and Justin Bieber, which helped introduce Wizkid’s music to an even wider international audience.
“Essence” became a defining record in the global rise of Afrobeats, earning Grammy recognition and charting on the Billboard Hot 100. Its success helped turn Made in Lagos into a lasting commercial and cultural achievement rather than a project whose impact ended with its initial release.
The deluxe edition’s streaming performance also reflects the longevity of Wizkid’s catalogue. Several years after its release, the project continues to attract hundreds of thousands of daily streams, demonstrating its staying power among listeners at home and internationally.
With Made in Lagos: Deluxe Edition now beyond 1.3 billion Spotify streams, Wizkid adds another milestone to a career that has helped shape the international growth of Afrobeats.
