50 Cent is celebrating a strong opening weekend for Street Fighter, the new live-action adaptation of the iconic video game franchise, which earned approximately $51.1 million worldwide during its first weekend in cinemas.

Released internationally from October 14 and in North America on October 16, 2026, the action film collected an estimated $31 million domestically and another $20.1 million from international markets between October 16 and 18. The performance placed Street Fighter at the top of the global box office for the weekend.

The film features 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, as Balrog, alongside a star-studded cast that includes Jason Momoa, Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.

50 Cent Reacts to the Box Office Numbers

Following the film’s debut, 50 Cent took to Instagram to celebrate its performance, using his signature humour to take a swipe at competing releases.

“50 does $51,000,000 the first week,” the rapper and actor wrote in one post, referencing the film’s worldwide opening. He also joked about Whalefall, another film released during the same weekend, writing that he had “beached Whalefall.”

The comments reflect Jackson’s growing presence in film and television alongside his established career in music. In recent years, he has expanded his work as a producer and actor, building a screen career that includes projects such as Power and BMF.

His role as Balrog places him within a large ensemble bringing the popular fighting game’s characters to life for a new cinematic adaptation.

Inside the New

Street Fighter

Movie

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film follows longtime rivals Ryu and Ken Masters as they reunite after being drawn into the World Warrior Tournament by Chun-Li. What begins as a return to combat develops into a larger conflict involving a hidden conspiracy.

The cast includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma and Cody Rhodes as Guile. 50 Cent plays Balrog, the powerful boxer known to fans of the video game series.

Produced by Legendary Pictures and Capcom, the film is a new adaptation of the long-running franchise, which has attracted generations of players since its arcade origins. Its release follows earlier live-action film adaptations, including the 1994 movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Can

Street Fighter

Maintain Its Momentum?

Despite taking the top spot in its opening weekend, Street Fighter faces the challenge of sustaining audience interest in the weeks ahead.

The film reportedly carries a production budget of approximately $82 million. While its $51.1 million global opening provides a solid start, worldwide box-office revenue does not translate directly into studio profit, as cinemas retain a portion of ticket sales and marketing costs must also be considered.

The opening nevertheless puts the film in a strong position as it begins its theatrical run. Its continued performance will depend on audience response, repeat viewings and how well it holds against upcoming releases.

For 50 Cent, the debut offers another high-profile film credit and an opportunity to connect with audiences beyond music. As Street Fighter begins its run in cinemas worldwide, its opening numbers give the rapper and actor a reason to celebrate.
