Sean โDiddyโ Combs has been transferred to a new federal prison in Pennsylvania following a turbulent period at his previous facility in New Jersey, where reports of alleged special privileges, contraband and disciplinary issues attracted widespread attention.
The 56-year-old music mogul was moved from the Federal Correctional Institution at Fort Dix to FCI Allenwood Low on Friday, October 16, 2026. The US Bureau of Prisons confirmed the transfer but declined to explain why the decision was made.
โFor privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not discuss the conditions of confinement for any individual in our custody, including reasons for transfer,โ a Bureau of Prisons spokesperson said.
Reports of Special Treatment at Fort Dix
The transfer follows reports about Combsโ alleged living conditions at Fort Dix. In September, NBC News reported that he had allegedly obtained access to prohibited items, including a cellphone and alcohol, while other inmates reportedly provided personal services such as cooking, cleaning and massages.
The reports sparked questions about whether Combs was receiving preferential treatment while serving his sentence. Following the coverage, he was reportedly placed in a special housing unit and faced disciplinary consequences, including the loss of 41 days of good-conduct credit. His projected release date was subsequently pushed back to March 2, 2028, according to the Associated Press.
The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly linked the transfer to any specific disciplinary incident. Combsโ spokesperson also declined to speculate about the circumstances behind the move.
Controversy Surrounding Reports of a Prison Fight
The transfer also came days after reports circulated that Combs had sustained a head injury during an alleged altercation at Fort Dix.
Some media reports attributed the injury to a fight with another inmate, but the Bureau of Prisons directly disputed the claim that a fight had occurred, telling the Associated Press that the report was false.
The exact circumstances surrounding the reported injury remain unclear, and the alleged fight should not be treated as confirmed.
Combsโ representative has emphasised that the family and legal team are focused on his safety and well-being as he continues serving his sentence.
What Prison Is Diddy Moving To?
FCI Allenwood Low is a low-security federal correctional facility in Pennsylvania, located west of New York City. Combsโ transfer moves him out of Fort Dix, where he had been serving his sentence following his 2025 conviction.
The move does not, by itself, indicate a change to his conviction or sentence. Combs received a 50-month prison sentence after a jury found him guilty on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution-related purposes. He was acquitted of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges.
His legal team is appealing the conviction and sentence, arguing that the punishment was excessive. The appeal remained unresolved at the time of the transfer.
Diddyโs Legal Troubles Continue
The prison transfer adds another development to the legal challenges surrounding the Bad Boy Records founder. Once one of the most influential figures in hip-hop, Combs has faced criminal proceedings and multiple civil lawsuits that have continued to draw public attention.
For now, officials have confirmed his new location but have not disclosed the reason for moving him. Until further information emerges, any connection between the transfer and the reports surrounding his previous incarceration remains unconfirmed.
