American R&B star Brandy is set to headline Flytime Promotions’ House of R&B concert in Lagos on December 20, bringing one of the genre’s most recognisable voices to Nigeria for the 2026 Detty December season.
The concert will take place at the Eko Convention Centre and will open Flytime’s six-night December entertainment programme. The announcement adds another major international name to Lagos’ end-of-year concert calendar, which attracts music fans from across Nigeria and the diaspora.
Flytime founder and CEO Cecil Hammond described Brandy as a natural fit for the event, which celebrates R&B and its influence on contemporary music.
“Brandy represents everything Flytime’s House of R&B celebrates, and she is the perfect artist to open our December season,” Hammond said.
Brandy Brings Her R&B Legacy to Lagos
Known to fans as the “Vocal Bible,” Brandy built her reputation with her distinctive vocals, layered harmonies and influential approach to contemporary R&B. Her catalogue includes enduring hits such as “The Boy Is Mine,” “Have You Ever,” “Almost Doesn’t Count” and “Full Moon.”
Her music helped shape the sound of R&B through the 1990s and early 2000s, influencing generations of singers who followed. Her Lagos appearance will give Nigerian fans an opportunity to experience that catalogue live during one of the city’s busiest entertainment periods.
The announcement comes during a notable year for the singer. In 2026, Brandy received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Recording Academy’s Black Music Icon Award. She also released her memoir, Phases, which became a New York Times bestseller.
Flytime’s Detty December Lineup
Brandy’s performance will launch a wider programme of concerts and events organised by Flytime Promotions for December 2026.
The current schedule includes Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged on December 21, Flytime Fest Powered by Coca-Cola from December 22 to 24, and the newly announced Flytime Circle concert on December 25. More artist announcements are expected as the festive season approaches.
Flytime, founded in 2004, has become a major player in Nigeria’s live entertainment industry, staging concerts featuring Nigerian stars such as Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy and Rema, alongside international acts including Megan Thee Stallion and Boyz II Men. Its annual December events have become a fixture of Lagos’ festive entertainment calendar.
Before arriving in Lagos, Brandy is scheduled to perform in South Africa, with shows in Cape Town on December 14 and Pretoria on December 17 and 18. The Lagos concert will follow those dates as part of her December run in the region.
With Brandy confirmed as the headline act, Flytime’s House of R&B is shaping up to be one of the key events of Lagos’ Detty December season, bringing a celebrated voice in American R&B to a city whose appetite for international live music continues to grow.
