Jhené Aiko has achieved a major career milestone, earning her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with her latest project, Westside Whimsy.
The R&B singer’s fourth studio album debuts at the top of the chart dated September 26, 2026, with 74,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States during the tracking week ending September 17, according to Luminate.
The achievement comes nearly 13 years after Aiko first entered the Billboard 200 with her 2013 project Sail Out, which debuted and peaked at No. 8. Her previous highest-charting album was 2020’s Chilombo, which opened at No. 2 and later earned a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.
Westside Whimsy was released on September 11, just three days after Aiko officially announced the project. The 20-track album features collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Larry June, Tyga and OHMA.
Streaming played the biggest role in the album’s chart-topping debut. Of its 74,000 equivalent units, 70,000 came from streaming-equivalent activity, representing approximately 71.33 million official on-demand streams in the U.S. Another 3,500 units came from album sales, while track-equivalent activity contributed 500 units.
The No. 1 debut also makes Westside Whimsy the first R&B album by a woman to top the Billboard 200 in 2026. It is also the first R&B album to lead the chart since SZA’s SOS completed its final week at No. 1 in May 2025.
For Aiko, the achievement represents the latest chapter in a chart history that has steadily grown since Sail Out. Westside Whimsy becomes her sixth Billboard 200 top-10 album, cementing the project as the highest-charting album of her career.
The album’s success also follows a relatively short rollout. Aiko announced Westside Whimsy on September 8 before releasing it three days later, giving fans little advance notice but quickly generating strong streaming activity around the project.
With Westside Whimsy, Jhené Aiko has finally reached the summit of the Billboard 200 nearly 13 years after her first appearance on the chart, turning a long-awaited career milestone into one of the biggest achievements of her discography.
