Madonna is teaming up with Charli XCX for a new remix of her Confessions II track “Danceteria,” and the collaboration now has an official release date.

Titled “Danceteria (Afterhours),” the new version is set to arrive on September 24, 2026. Madonna confirmed the news on social media on September 18, sharing a short teaser featuring herself and Charli XCX alongside the caption, “Let’s take it to the East side baby.”

The teaser shows Madonna and Charli dancing together in a white studio as a preview of the collaboration plays. The new version reworks “Danceteria,” one of the tracks from Madonna’s latest album Confessions II.

The collaboration follows weeks of hints from both artists. Earlier in September, Madonna posted a video with the caption “Thinking about Charli…,” prompting Charli to respond in the comments with a tease of her own. The two stars had also been seen together in Paris earlier this year, further fueling speculation that they were working on music.

“Danceteria” itself takes its name from the legendary New York City nightclub where Madonna became closely connected to the city’s early-1980s downtown music scene. The new Afterhours version will give the track a fresh collaborative dimension by bringing together Madonna’s dance-pop legacy with Charli XCX’s contemporary club-focused sound.

The release also arrives at an important moment for Madonna. Just three days after the remix drops, she is scheduled to return to the MTV Video Music Awards on September 27, marking her first performance at the ceremony in 23 years. She is also leading this year’s nominations with 11 nods.

“Danceteria (Afterhours)” will be Madonna’s second announced Afterhours remix from the Confessions II era, following her collaboration with Kylie Minogue on a reworked version of “Love Sensation.
