Nigerian Afropop star Ayra Starr has officially released her highly anticipated third studio album, Starrgirl, marking a new chapter in the singerโs rapidly evolving career.
The 16-track album arrives on August 14, 2026, through Mavin Records and Republic Records, following weeks of anticipation surrounding its international collaborations and new sonic direction.
Starrgirl features an impressive collection of African and international artists, including Wizkid, Rema, ZAYN, Leon Thomas, Theodora, Danny Ocean and KWN. The project includes Wizkid on โGimme Dat,โ Rema on โWhoโs Dat Girl,โ and ZAYN on โHeaven Baby.โ
The album represents a significant evolution from Ayra Starrโs previous projects. While her earlier albums were closely connected to different stages of her age and development, Starrgirl takes a broader approach, reflecting her growth as a woman and allowing her to experiment more freely with different sounds and influences.
Musically, the project moves beyond conventional Afrobeats, incorporating elements of R&B, pop, electronic music and dancehall-influenced sounds. The international collaborations further reinforce the albumโs global ambitions, with artists from different musical backgrounds contributing to the project.
Among the albumโs standout collaborations is โHeaven Babyโ featuring ZAYN, which gives Ayra Starr an opportunity to connect her Afropop sound with the British singerโs pop and R&B sensibilities. The project also features โMs. Paperโ with French singer Theodora, while โAmazingโ features rising artist KWN.
The albumโs release follows Ayra Starrโs acclaimed 2024 project The Year I Turned 21, which became her second studio album and further established her as one of the leading voices of Nigeriaโs new generation. Starrgirl now becomes the third full-length project in her discography.
The rollout has also been significant internationally. Ayra Starr has spoken about how her experiences and growth, including her time in New York City, influenced the new era. She has described the album as a reflection of her evolution and a chance to embrace different sides of herself creatively.
With major collaborations, a 16-track tracklist and a noticeably wider sonic palette, Starrgirl represents Ayra Starrโs most globally ambitious album to date.
As she continues to expand her audience beyond Africa, the new project positions Ayra Starr at the intersection of Afrobeats, pop and contemporary R&B, while maintaining the individuality that has made her one of Nigeriaโs most exciting young stars.
With Starrgirl now officially out, Ayra Starr has entered what could be the biggest era of her career yet.
