Janet Jackson is set to celebrate the anniversary of her landmark album Control with a new concert film, Janet Jackson: Control 40  The Airtab Music Movie.

The filmed concert event is being produced in partnership with Airtab Music and will capture Jackson performing songs from the groundbreaking album while celebrating the legacy of one of the most important records of her career.

Filming is scheduled for December 12, 2026, at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. The production will be directed by filmmaker Leslie Small and will use a cinematic, multi-camera approach alongside exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.

Originally released on February 4, 1986, Control represented a defining turning point for Jackson. The album established her as an independent artistic force and helped transform her into one of pop and R&B’s biggest stars.

The album produced a remarkable run of hits, including “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “When I Think of You,” “Control,” and “The Pleasure Principle.” Its combination of R&B, funk, pop, dance and innovative production from Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis became hugely influential.

The upcoming film is expected to give fans an immersive look at Jackson’s performance legacy while revisiting the music that established her as a global superstar. The production will also incorporate behind-the-scenes access, giving viewers more than a traditional concert recording.

The project arrives during a year-long celebration of Control’s 40th anniversary. Jackson has already marked the milestone with tributes to the album, which remains one of the defining releases of 1980s pop and R&B.
