Kid Cudi isn’t just adding another credit to his résumé he’s stepping into a role he’s been quietly preparing for his entire career.

The artist born Scott Mescudi is set to write, direct, and star in Doe, marking his official feature film directorial debut a move he has described as “the ultimate dream.” 

But Doe isn’t built like a vanity project. It’s raw, stripped down, and deeply personal.

The film unfolds over a single day in Hollywood, following a man navigating addiction, survival, and the unpredictability of life on the margins.  The story leans into intimacy rather than spectacle tight, character-driven, and emotionally heavy in a way that mirrors the themes Cudi has explored in his music for years.

That connection matters.

Because Kid Cudi has always blurred the lines between mediums. From Man on the Moon to Entergalactic, his work has consistently felt cinematic built on mood, vulnerability, and internal conflict. Doe feels like a natural extension of that language, just translated onto a bigger screen.

And he’s not doing it alone.

The film features a supporting cast including Mark Webber, Leah McNamara, Brandon Scott, and Brandon Perea, with Cudi also producing under his Mad Solar banner.  It’s a collaborative effort, but one clearly driven by a singular vision.

That vision has been years in the making.

Cudi has long spoken about his love for film, directing his own music videos and co-creating the Emmy-winning Entergalactic project. But Doe represents something different, it’s his first time fully controlling the narrative, from script to screen.

And that shift is bigger than it looks.

Artists crossing into film isn’t new. But few do it with the kind of creative consistency Cudi has built where the themes, tone, and emotional core remain intact across music, visuals, and storytelling. This isn’t reinvention. It’s expansion.
