Streaming platform BET+ is set to be folded into Paramount+ after a major ownership shift involving filmmaker Tyler Perry.
The move follows the buyout of Perryโs stake in the service by Paramount Global, which is restructuring its streaming strategy by consolidating platforms under the Paramount+ umbrella.
BET+ originally launched as a joint venture between Paramountโs BET brand and Tyler Perryโs studio operations, focusing on content created for Black audiences, including films, series, and exclusive productions.
With the integration into Paramount+, executives say the goal is to streamline operations and bring BET+ programming to a larger global audience while strengthening Paramount+โs content library.
The change reflects a broader trend across the streaming industry, where media companies are merging or consolidating services to compete with larger platforms like Netflix and Amazon.
Despite the restructuring, BETโs brand and its focus on Black storytelling are expected to remain central to the programming that will continue under the Paramount+ platform.
