Major League Soccer has issued lifetime bans to midfielder Derrick Jones and winger Yaw Yeboah after both players were found guilty of serious betting violations.

According to the league, investigations revealed that the players breached strict gambling rules set by Major League Soccer, which prohibit athletes from betting on matches or participating in gambling activities related to the sport.

League officials described the punishment as necessary to protect the integrity of professional football. Betting on games particularly those connected to the league represents one of the most serious violations in professional sports, often resulting in severe sanctions.

The decision means both players are permanently barred from participating in MLS activities, including matches, training sessions, and any official league programs.

The ruling sends a strong message across the league and global football community about the consequences of violating gambling policies, as sports organizations worldwide continue to tighten regulations around betting to maintain competitive fairness and public trust.
