Rising star Aaron Pierre is stepping into the spotlight as one of the lead figures in Lanterns, the upcoming DC series being developed for HBO.
The first official trailer for ‘Lanterns’ has arrived, offering fans their most detailed look yet at the upcoming HBO series centered on the legendary Green Lantern Corps.
Fronted by Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler, the show follows veteran Lantern Hal Jordan as he mentors newcomer John Stewart. But while the premise may sound familiar to longtime DC devotees, the newly released footage suggests the project is taking a strikingly different route than many expected.
The sneak peek offers up a glimpse at what’s to come from the eagerly awaited series.
Rather than a traditional superhero spectacle, the series appears to frame Hal Jordan and John Stewart as two investigators drawn into a mysterious case with cosmic implications.
While the Green Lantern power rings are present, the teaser notably keeps many of the franchise’s fantastical elements under wraps. Joining the duo on the cast also is Nathan Fillion, reprising his role as Guy Gardner, alongside Nicole Ari Parker, Ulrich Thomsen, Kelly Macdonald, and Garet Dillahunt.
