Kanye West is attempting to reset the narrative after years of controversy, issuing a lengthy public apology addressing antisemitism, mental illness, and the harm caused to both Jewish and Black communities.

The Rap star shared the statement via a paid ad in The Wall Street Journal revealing that he endured what he described as a four-month manic episode in early 2025 that spiraled into destructive behavior.

Delving into the reason for his words, Ye said:

โ€œI fell into a four-month long manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior that destroyed my life,โ€

The 48-year-old said his bipolar disorder, which he publicly disclosed in 2016, played a central role in the breakdown:

โ€œWhen you go into a manic episode, you are ill at that pointโ€ฆ when youโ€™re not, thatโ€™s when the wreckage hits the hardest,โ€

West credited his wife, Bianca Censori, for pushing him to finally seek help after hitting what he called โ€œrock bottom.โ€

The apology directly addressed his widely condemned antisemitic remarks which fueled backlash across politics, music, and business.
Stressing that mental illness does not excuse his behavior, he added:

โ€œI regret and am deeply mortified by my actionsโ€ฆ I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. I love Jewish people.โ€

he wrote, while stressing that mental illness does not excuse his behavior.

West also apologized to the Black community. He said, acknowledging the global impact of his words:

โ€œIโ€™m so sorry to have let you down.โ€

The message arrives just days before the release of his next album, โ€˜Bully,โ€™ as the artist says he focuses on treatment, accountability, and long-term change.
