Angela Bassett is widely considered one of the greatest to grace a screen. And the Hollywood icon will be honored as such at the forthcoming American Black Film Festival Honors.

Moments ago, it was announced that Bassett, whose trailblazing roles includeโ€˜Whatโ€™s Love Got To Do With It,โ€™ โ€˜911,โ€™ and the โ€˜Black Pantherโ€™ franchise, will be bestowed with the Excellence in the Arts Award at the 8th Annual (ABFF) Honors.

A salute to a career as distinguished and decorated to the highest order, the award will be presented to the star on February 16 at the SLS hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.

ABFF President Jeff Friday and Nicole Friday said in a statement:

โ€œHer body of work is both extraordinary and enduring, defined by performances that are fearless, powerful, and deeply human. She has set a standard for artistic integrity and cultural impact that continues to inspire generations, and we are honored to celebrate her remarkable career with the Excellence in the Arts Award.โ€

The night will also honor Dwayne โ€˜The Rockโ€™ Johnson with the Entertainment Icon Award, powerhouse talent Jennifer Hudson, host of โ€˜The Jennifer Hudson Showโ€™ with the Renaissance Award, and trailblazing director and executive producer Salli Richardson-Whitfieldwith the Evolution Award. Damson Idriswith the Horizon Award.
